Tagged me to post 8 Random Facts About Myself, so here goes:

Speaking of random, last week I wrote a paper on the word random comparing its modern slang definition to the dictionary definition, and that to the first usage after it appeared from Old French randun. Evidently randun was a noun signifying "impetuosity or hastiness" so in the paper I discussed the word's shift into the adjective we all know and love today, and what kind of concept the slang usage signifies that no other word can describe.

I sometimes forget to eat dinner. If I skip eating in the cafeteria because it's gross, I plan to eat the ramen I have in my room. Then suddenly I'm lying awake at 1:00 in the morning and I realize that the reason I can't get to sleep is that I'm really hungry, since I hadn't eaten since like 1:00 that afternoon. I'm so stupid.

Living alone is bad for me, because my dorm room is a mess Obviously since it's so cluttered I don't like to invite people over, so I just hermit myself in here and add to the clutter. Oddly enough, I can be completely perfectionistic sometimes.

I wear my fluffy light purple bathrobe over my clothes whenever I'm not out in public. It's just so cozy!

I haven't been doing any art lately, since I've spent every moment of my time when I'm not in class, doing homework, eating, sleeping, or surfing the internet (it ends up not being that much time after you subtract all that stuff out) making my Halloween costume. I'm gonna be Princess Zelda!

Today I had to fill my car with gasoline and I'm not very good at it. It took me a while to figure out how to use the machine, and then I stood there for at least 10 minutes before I realized that no gas was going into my car, and then once I'd figured that out and the pump finished filling my car, I spilled gasoline all over my shoes when I was trying to take the nozzle out. Needless to say, I felt like an idiot.

I joined the Anime Club on campus this year, partly because I wanted an outlet for making costumes more often than just Halloween, partly because I got myself obsessed with Fullmetal Alchemist (I'm not even done yet) and no one else I knew had watched it, and partly because I needed a social atmosphere that didn't revolve around academics. I wanna watch cartoons, darnit!

I've got one of those cool iPod playing alarm clocks, and I've had the same music for the alarm for an entire year: It's from the Chicken Run movie soundtrack, track 15: "Building the Crate" and I start it at exactly 1 minute 32 seconds in. Go listen to it! It's amazing. I'm listening to it right now

Anyway, yeah. I'm hoping to get to work on my regular form of art soon; I keep getting distracted by fun but very involved projects that prevent me from getting much else done. For now I'm just trying to balance school, social life (or whatever), hobbies, sleeping, and eating.
